Two years after Emily and Navin lost a family member, they move into their great-grandfather’s old house to start fresh. Emily finds an old necklace while cleaning the house and puts it on, thinking nothing of it. When their mother is swallowed by a huge monster living underneath the house, Emily and Navin find themselves in the strange world that it came from. The necklace and its secrets may be their only hope of surviving and rescuing their mom.
Amulet: The Stonekeeper is an extremely immersive story. What starts out as a relatively realistic story quickly progresses into one that is both high-tech and high-fantasy. The world that Emily and Navin end up in is full of strange new creatures and characters – some good, some evil, and some in between. This book is good for children who don’t like books with too many words. However, there is some imagery that may frighten younger readers, so I would recommend taking a look at it before giving to any child if you are concerned about the content. I would recommend this book to anyone on the lookout for an easy read that will have you hooked from the very beginning.
