Petra and Calder think they have nothing in common. They may be next-door neighbors, but as far as they’re concerned, that’s where the similarity ends. However, when their love for puzzles brings them together, they may find that working together can help a lot of people.
If you love puzzles, this book is definitely for you. The whole book is a mystery from start to finish, with hidden puzzles just for the reader to figure out. Through solving codes and piecing together clues, readers can see if they can unravel the mystery before our protagonists do. Even then, though, what comes together at the end may still surprise you.
I loved the character dynamics throughout this entire book. Calder and Petra become this seemingly unstoppable team as they put together clues and investigate everyone they know. Finding each other in the most unlikely of ways could lead to a lifelong partnership or the loss of everything they love. And it leaves you with a question: when a famous painting is stolen by a thief who wants the truth to come out, who would you suspect?
