On our birthday, January 1st, we turned two years old! Thank you fans, friends, and family for all of your support! We couldn’t do it with out you or our AMAZING staff of tireless working individuals, volunteers, and interns! Take a look at where we’ve been and where we are going; and keep spreading the #BookLove!
Awards and Recognition
Two years ago we started on a journey to produce quality, timeless children’s books and more. Today, we stand poised to deliver just what we promised. 2015 was an amazing year for authors Candy Grant and Jonathan Nordstrom. Both were awarded gold honoree status from the prestigious Moms Choice Awards after being spotted at the Book Expo of America. From there, Grant’s, “A Fairy Tale“, traveled with IBPA to the Frankfurt Book Fair and found interest with 4 publishing houses in 4 different countries. Nordstrom’s breakout book, “Sometimes Sleep“, was a top 100 notable in the 2015 Shelf Unbound Indie Best; what to read next in Indie Publishing. Additionally, it earned the Gelett Burgess Award for outstanding contributions to children’s literacy in the Read Aloud/Storytime (all ages) category.
What 2016 will Bring
What else? More local talent! In addition to new works from our award winning authors, Candy Grant and Jonathan Nordstrom, we’ve sourced the best new talent from our own backyard! Joining us this year will be Maryland’s own children’s book authors, Krissy Mach Atchison (“Lee Lee the Surfing Monkey” series), David Jonas (“The Prince and the White Tiger”), Shreya Hessler, Psy.D. (“Bianca Finds Her Bounce”), and Jennifer Lee Kouo (“Paint Me the Sky”). New illustrative talent hailing from our home state of Maryland is, Stephanie Parks and Melissa Ragos. Additionally, one of our favorite illustrators, Michaela Schuett will rejoin us for books by Grant and Jonas (plus a few more projects, but don’t tell Michaela how busy we plan to keep her!).
For our voracious #KidLit readers we are bringing back the one and only, Page Turner, for our blog’s For Kids, By Kids Book Reviews. She will be joined by several Junior Editors, who will help review picture book and transitional fiction manuscripts to give us a kid friendly perspective. These young readers know what their peers are reading, what they like, and what they want to read next!
You can find The Omnibus Publishing at many local events this year including the First Sundays Arts Festival in Annapolis and the Baltimore Book Festival. Keep on the lookout for a new podcast and webinar series. If you ever wondered what it’s like to write, publish, and anything in between, give a listen as we highlight our authors, illustrators, editors and much more. For additional events, please check our website often.
Wow! That’s a shelfful of #BookLove to keep us busy this year and into the next. Thanks again everyone! We look forward to another fabulous year!
